A magnificent balance of ripe peach and fresh acidity. This soft sparkling wine comes in at 5% alc and is just enjoyment in a glass. Perfect on its own with a vibrant level of acidity cutting the sweetness it also pairs well with food. I have also had the opportunity to have older vintages and can attest that this wine ages quite well. Ghiga 2023 Langhe Favorita DOC
$230.00PRICING IS BY THE CASE – 12 Bottles Aromas of pear & white blossoms are pronounced and as intense as a Pinot Gris or New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. On the palate the texture is creamy with white fruits and floral flavours yet the wine finishes dry. The perfect patio sipper or cocktail party wine. Number of bottles produced: 1400 Method: after macerating for about 12 hours inside of the press, the grapes are squeezed at a pressure that doesn’t exceed 1.80 bar. The liquid is then drawn off and alcoholic fermentation begins. Fermenting is carried out with special yeasts at a controlled temperature. For the entire duration of the fermentation, the product is constantly agitated by a stirrer, 2 times a day for 5 minutes, in order to keep the “noble” yeast and grape lees suspended, thus obtaining an increase in body structure. The wild raspberry and cranberry flavours of the Barbera meld with the tart acid and red berry characteristics of Freisa. * Freisa and Nebbiolo have a parent-offspring relationship and possibly a close genetic relationship with Viognier. Basically a highly quaffable rose. Number of bottles produced: 500 Method: after macerating for about 12 hours inside of the press, the grapes are gently pressed then the juice is drawn off, fermentation lasts for 8-9 days resulting in a bright fresh juicy dry rose. $230.00PRICING IS BY THE CASE – 12 Bottles Vibrant Wild Raspberry and Blue Plum aromas with a subtle white pepper spice. A classic example of Barbera designed for immediate enjoyment. Method: the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed. The fermentation is carried out with specially selected yeasts at a controlled temperature, with frequent pumping and delestage in cement & stainless steel tanks. No Oak Grape: 100 % Barbera Soil: medium mixture, with a good amount of clay and iron and aluminum silicates. PRICING IS BY THE CASE – 12 Bottles "Le Margherite" comes from the particular presence of Daisies in the vineyard during the summer, hence those lovely gold daisies on the label. Ghiga is run by two brothers who took over their family farm and vineyard. This new Nebbiolo offering is where this next generation is able to make it's mark. The vines are from a single vineyard in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo. The vineyard has a southern exposure, the soil is made up of clay and limestone with a high magnesium content. Cover crops are at play in this new vineyard that was planted in 2019. The fruit is hand harvested, crush/destemmed then on to a prolonged pump over skin contact regime. This is all carried out in stainless steel tanks, oak use for maturation is minimal at 4 months. http://ghiga.it/en/
